The Federal Maritime Commission voted to issue an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) that will gather information about possible changes to regulations governing the definition of “non-performance” by a cruise line and the process for obtaining a refund when a vessel does not sail.
The Federal Maritime Commission has published an update to Decisions of the Federal Maritime Commission, Second Series (Volume 2), now incorporating January 2020 thru August 2020.
Commissioner Louis E. Sola, the Fact Finding Officer for Fact Finding 30, released an Interim Report outlining economic impacts cessation of cruise operations have had to the Florida economy.
The Commission met in closed session to be briefed on market trends in trade lanes serving the United States and actions taken by both individual ocean carriers and global alliances in response to COVID-19.
Sunshine Act Meeting Notice
Commissioners Sola and Dye briefed Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad F. Wolf about the Federal Maritime Commission response to COVID-19, including their respective fact finding investigations.
Federal Maritime Commission Chairman Michael A. Khouri addressed the NCBFAA Government Affairs Conference on a number of issues related to the work of the Commission.
Commissioners Dye, Maffei, and Bentzel spoke at a panel hosted virtually by the National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America on topics related to fact-finding investigations and current conditions in the industry.
