NOVEMBER 2021 ACTIVITY REPORT
STATEMENTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
Six Supply Chain Innovation Teams are being convened by Commissioner Rebecca F. Dye to identify and implement improvements to the process and timing of return and delivery of containers to marine terminals.
Identifying data constraints that impede the flow of ocean cargo and add to supply chain inefficiencies will be the focus of a new Federal Maritime Commission effort to be spearheaded by Commissioner Carl W. Bentzel. This effort will be critical to pinpointing how data can contribute to the long-term reliability of the domestic cargo delivery system.
The FMC granted a request for expedited review of this amendment to the West Coast MTO Agreement, under which authority the PierPass program was established.
William “Bill” Cody hired to serve as the agency’s Secretary.
Federal Maritime Commissioners Carl W. Bentzel and Louis E. Sola wrote Secretary Janet L. Yellen on November 5, 2021, concerning the proposed acquisition of Ports America by the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.
On December 7, 2021, Commissioner Carl W. Bentzel will kick off the Federal Maritime Commission’s (FMC) Maritime Data Infrastructure initiative.
